Challenge

Our biggest challenge with the re-design of SEP was the lack of branding strategy in place while trying to re-imagine the visuals and user experience. When there is no visual or strategic branding in place, design will always be limited. A second challenge was designing an experience that had native app — like features for a web app. Web app design can be restrictive and not allow the same room for innovation and creativity.

Ideation

Every couple of weeks, the 2 PM’s involved, CEO, CTO, and myself would review the UX design. I would gather critical feedback from the team and keep iterating the design. This process was ongoing until we finalized the UX design and went on to the visuals.

UI

Once the UX was defined, it was time to move on to a new UI theme. I came up with 3 different creative directions and presented all 3 to the team. In the end, we decided to go with the 2nd option due to its modern yet relatable approach.
